Day 10 The Final day

It seems ironic this blog started in a class and now the last entry is about what was said in class. My teacher thought it be fun that college students will play telephone to talk about marriage and one of the messages was that men must protect the women. Who says a woman can't defend herself. When I read this I shouted that is sexist, and whats funny is nobody looked at me oddly for pointing it out. Why do people think women can't defend ourselves, cause if a man attacks me my first reaction is to knee him in the nuts. I have done it, others have done it. Women are not something to protect, we are not a fragile porcelain doll, we don't shatter when we are touched. News Flash girls can draw blood too.

Day 9

Thursday today has been a good day. I was getting ready to go to sleep then I hear this: Somebody's gotta wear a pretty skirt, Somebody's gotta be the one to flirt, Somebody gotta wanna hold his hand so God made girls My first thought was what oh cute, but then I heard more of the song. Somebody's gotta be the one to cry Somebody's gotta let him drive, give him a reason To hold that door so God made girls Then I thought not so cute. I was shocked when I heard this song, how could a female support this view supporting that women are the only people to flirt and that men should be the ones who drive. I went and looked up the song's lyrics an my conclusion: This is blatant sexist, it doesn't matter if the singer is a female. It is still sexist. The singer is saying the primary purpose for women is to validate men.

Day 8

Waiting for the shuttle in Worcester and someone used the N-word. Guess what both were Black. Am I the only one that has noticed that when a black person uses the N word, it is okay, but when anyone else uses it their labeled as racist, white supremacist, a bigot. I know I am a white and shouldn't be complaining, but if we want to eradicate the N-word shouldn't it not be acceptable to say no matter if your race.

Day 7

I was reading Cassandra Clare's City of lost souls and I read this passage: 'I thought your parents were okay with you, you know, coming out,' Simon said, leaning around Isabelle to look at Alec, who was — as he often was — scowling, and pushing his floppy dark hair out of his eyes. Aside from the occasional exchange, Simon had never talked to Alec much. He wasn’t an easy person to get to know. But, Simon admitted to himself, his own recent estrangement from his mother made him more curious about Alec’s answer than he would have been otherwise. 'My mother seems to have accepted it,' Alec said. 'But my father — no, not really. Once he asked me what I thought had turned me gay.' Simon felt Isabelle tense next to him. 'Turned you gay?' She sounded incredulous. 'Alec, you didn’t tell me that.' 'I hope you told him you were bitten by a gay spider,' said Simon. Magnus snorted; Isabelle looked confused. 'I’ve read Magnus’s s...

Day 6

Today it seems that me being a girl means I am a terrible driver. I live on the Leicester campus, and I have to take the shuttle cause some of my classes are in Worcester.  I was getting off the shuttle in Leicester and went into the fuller campus center. There was a tour going on, and the tour person was explaining about the shuttles. This parent comments how there seemed to be more girls taking the shuttle then boys. He then says to me "guess that just shows that girls like you can't drive."   Now I decided not to respond to that, but inside I was fuming. How dare he say that.  Why is it that people think that girls are bad drivers?  I think the man was bored and wanted some excitement. Too bad he picked the wrong girl to talk to. I didn't take the bait.

Day 5

My friend Ben is legally blind, we were playing pool, now I suck at pool by a luck shot I won. I left Ben to play with someone else cause I had to catch the shuttle Now a guy came up, one who I never saw around before came up to me and said, "Wow guess he can never see that coming." I asked him, "what are you talking about?" he answered "your too pretty to be playing with him sugar, come play with my balls." Now on principle I could have slapped him for that comment, and for his comment on Ben but I didn't it, I scoffed and said " go play with your own balls I have a shuttle to catch." It was obvious the guy wanted something- something if you catch my drift. I'm not that kind of person. I'm insulted for myself and my friend.

Day 4

A car's radio blasting down the street listening to rap and the rapper said the n word. Now my skin is white as snow, but people worked hard to get rid of the n word and it seems people are woking hard to bring it back. I feel like history should be insulted why is it okay for some people to say it and for others it is not. It seems white people can't say these words but other people can.
